Sweet and Kind is a bracelet company started by Millie, our owner's nine-year-old daughter, and it sits alongside her picks from the shop floor. The idea behind it is straightforward: she makes beaded bracelets, and a portion of everything sold goes to the Middleburg Humane Foundation. It is the only range on the site that a child runs.
The bracelets are five dollars each, made from four millimetre seed beads in metallic, pearl and iridescent finishes, at three to three and a quarter inches in diameter. Some carry a single larger element set into the beads, and those are the ones that sell first.
The designs are named after what is in them rather than a colour code: gummy bears on green, pink, blue, yellow and white seed beads; gold stars on gold; pastel stars; large pastel beads; hearts and stars together; red with gold hearts; rainbow beads with gummy bears threaded through; and Christmas beads that arrive towards the end of the year. They are made to be stacked rather than worn one at a time, and four or five at once is how they end up being worn.
Because each one is beaded by hand, no two are identical, and the pattern shifts slightly from bracelet to bracelet. Millie decides what looks right, which is why the range changes as she works through new combinations.
They are the cheapest thing we sell and among the most popular with children, and they work as party favours, stocking fillers and classroom gifts. A handful of them makes a proper present.

There is also a bag charm version of the range, made from the same beads on paracord loops, if you are looking for something for an older child or a bag rather than a wrist. And because Millie makes them through the year, the Christmas designs appear towards the end of the autumn and sit alongside the year-round colours.
