Meier Lamb

Meier is a craftsman in Germany, and the lamb is the piece we carry from them. It stands 25 by 15 by 27 centimetres on a beech wood frame, with fur and leather detailing, and it is designed by Hanns-Peter Krafft. Each one is handmade, which is why no two are quite the same.

The story of the Meier sheep dates back to the late 1970s, when German designer Hanns-Peter Krafft began creating his distinctive sheep designs in collaboration with craftsman Horst Meier. Combining traditional woodworking, natural materials, and a wonderfully simple form, the sheep became a recognizable piece of German design. Nearly five decades later, these handcrafted animals continue to find their place in homes around the world.

The lamb itself has held a special place in art, religion, and cultural traditions for centuries. A symbol of innocence, gentleness, renewal, and new beginnings, the lamb is particularly meaningful during Easter and the arrival of spring. Its connection to pastoral life and the natural world also makes it a familiar figure in European country homes and traditional seasonal decorating.

As a decorative object, the Meier lamb brings warmth, texture, and personality to a home. It is equally at home on a styled bookshelf, entryway table, mantel, or as part of an Easter centerpiece. Its natural fur, leather details, and wooden construction complement traditional interiors, English country decor, farmhouse style, and more contemporary spaces.

Whether displayed as a piece of handcrafted German folk-inspired design, incorporated into spring and Easter decorations, or given as a thoughtful housewarming gift, the Meier lamb is made to be enjoyed and displayed for years to come. This is a decorative object for the home, not a children’s toy.
