Presents for the person who is hardest to buy for, grouped so the whole range is visible at once. It leans towards things that get used and things that last: tools, lanterns, bar pieces, leather and a little brass. Most of it falls between twenty-five and a hundred dollars.

Barebones makes up the largest part of it. The Miners Lantern is modelled on the antique lamp that was mounted on a hard hat, updated with a dimmable three-watt LED and a removable rechargeable battery, in matte brass with copper and aluminium accents. It has a magnetic base that grips any metal surface, and because the brass is unfinished it will tarnish and darken over time, which is the point rather than a fault. The Railroad Lantern and the Folding Shovel are the other two from the same range.

The leather is the practical end. The Kunar Utility Gloves are cut from premium cowhide with an elastic cuff and suede reinforcement over the palms and fingertips, and they are as at home in a workshop as in a garden. The classic work glove and the waxed canvas bags sit alongside them.

For the desk, the Caran d'Ache 888 Infinite ballpoints are the inexpensive option, and the Roller 849 takes a liquid ink cartridge in a hexagonal aluminium body. The Drehgriffel ballpoint is turned from aluminium and brass and is document proof.

The bar is where the gifts are, alongside the rest of bar and cocktail. The Kerosene lighter is solid brass, refillable and repairable, and the cocktail book range covers everything from Italy to whiskey, with Slow Drinks being the most interesting of the group.
