Glassware and Porcelain
This collection covers glass and porcelain across several makers, from a mouth-blown drinking glass in the high teens up to the largest Helle Mardahl pieces. It is the range to look through if you want something for a table that was made by hand rather than pressed in a factory.
Helle Mardahl makes up the largest part of it. Her work is Danish mouth-blown glass and porcelain, and the signature is the Bonbonniere, a lidded candy jar with a vibrant lid and a fluid, organic shape. Alongside it sit the Dish Pair, the Bon Bon pieces in three sizes and the candle holders in mini, medi and mega. The colours are named after what they resemble, from peppermint and apricot through to milky rose, and every piece is made individually so the tone shifts slightly between them.
Marin Montagut supplies the French side of the range. The glassware is mouth-blown from recycled glass and takes its shape from the French glassware of the last century, which is why it looks older than it is. The illustrated glasses are printed with designs like Carousel Horse. The pocket trays are enamelled porcelain, made by hand, roughly eighteen centimetres across, and unlike the glass they are both microwave and dishwasher safe.
Upstate makes handblown glass in New York. The catch-all dishes are pulled in several directions while the glass is still soft, which gives each one an organic and slightly irregular shape, and the crinkle cups are highball glasses with a wavy, undulating wall that holds the mark of the blowing process. These are hand wash only and roughly five by three inches.
Hospitality Glass covers the bar side at much lower prices, with mixing glasses from under twenty dollars up to the Meteorite and Majesty patterns, which use a cut-glass design for anyone building a proper bar setup.
The match strikers are worth knowing about. The black handblown ones are made by glassblowers in Dallas, one at a time, so the tone and size vary a little, and each arrives with matches. They hold toothpicks just as well once the matches are gone, and they sit naturally with the rest of the candle accessories.
Because so much of this is handblown, the piece that arrives will be a variation on the photograph rather than an exact copy. That is worth expecting when you buy, and it is the reason to buy.
We keep the range in stock. If there is a particular piece you are looking for that you are not able to find on the website, reach out to us and we will be glad to help.
