Cashmere and Wool Throw Blankets
Throws in cashmere blends and pure wool, woven rather than knitted, and made to last decades rather than seasons. The range runs from around two hundred dollars up to just over three hundred, and there are two distinct types.
The herringbone throws, which sit with gift ideas, are the cashmere ones. They are a blend of ninety-five per cent merino lambswool and five per cent cashmere, which is enough cashmere to change how the blanket feels without pushing the price past what pure cashmere would cost. The herringbone pattern is a classic one and it works in any room because it does not try to match anything. They measure fifty-four by seventy-two inches, which is a generous single throw and enough for two on a sofa, and they are woven in Ireland and dry clean only. The range of colours covers the neutrals and a few deeper tones.
The Checkerboard blankets are pure wool, jacquard-woven from New Zealand fleece with fringes on the short sides. They are thick and soft, and the pattern is mirror-inverted on the reverse, so the blanket can be turned over to change the look entirely. At four by six and a half feet they are big enough for two people. They carry the Woolmark and OEKO-TEX certifications, and the wool is biodegradable, so the blanket does not shed microplastics the way a synthetic one does.
That is the practical argument for wool over a fleece throw: it is warmer for its weight, it regulates temperature rather than just trapping heat, and it does not pill or go flat with use.
If you are choosing between them, the wool is the more robust and the easier to live with, and the cashmere blend is the one to give as a gift. Both are the sort of thing that gets handed down.
We keep the range in stock. If there is a particular colour or size you are looking for that you are not able to find on the website, reach out to us and we will be glad to help.
