Most of what is here sits between forty and ninety dollars, which is where gifts tend to land. The range runs from a notebook under fifteen dollars up to the largest Helle Mardahl pieces in the mid hundreds, and it covers candles, glassware, stationery, small jewellery-scale pieces and the design objects that make a desk or a shelf look considered.

The easiest place to start is the stationery, because it is ours. Our collage stationery sets are assembled by hand and in the mid forties, the foil stamped sets a little above, and both come in designs that change through the year. Carta's scissors are made in Italy. If she writes, these are the ones that get used rather than admired.

For the home, the Helle Mardahl glass and porcelain is the most distinctive thing we carry, and it works as a gift because it arrives looking like something chosen rather than something bought. The Haws Fazeley Flow watering cans do the same job for anyone who keeps plants. Skultuna's brass and the Carta ribbons are smaller ways into the same idea.

The smaller end is where most gifts are actually bought. The Scarlet tarot deck comes with a guide. A single candle or a box of matches is under twenty dollars and still feels like a decision was made.
