Scarves and Soft Wraps
A soft wrap from Marin Montagut, the Paris studio whose glassware and pocket trays we also carry. It works as a scarf, a shawl or something to put over the shoulders of a chair, which is the useful thing about a piece in this size.
Marin Montagut's work takes its cues from French illustration and the stationery and glassware of the last century, and the scarf follows the same hand: printed rather than woven to a pattern, in colours that read as considered rather than trend-led. It is the sort of piece that suits a plain coat and lifts it, or finishes a linen dress in the summer.
Because it is a printed cloth rather than a knitted wool, it is light enough to be worn indoors and to travel without taking up room in a bag. That makes it a good gift for someone who is always cold, and an easy one to post.
It pairs naturally with the rest of the Marin Montagut range we stock. The illustrated glasses and the enamelled porcelain pocket trays share the same palette, so a scarf given with a tray or a set of glasses reads as a considered pair rather than two separate presents.
Care is straightforward: cool hand wash and dry flat, away from direct heat, and it will hold its colour.
We make these in small runs. If you are looking for a particular colour or print that you are not able to find on the website, reach out to us and we will be glad to help.
Size is the thing to know about a wrap like this. It is large enough to wear properly over a coat rather than as a decorative neckerchief, which is what makes it useful through a cold spring as well as an autumn. Folded, it also works as a light layer over a summer dress in the evening.
