Collection: Greeting Cards

Letterpress cards, printed by hand, covering the occasions you actually send for. Every card in the collection sits in the same bracket, with the boxed sets and larger cards a little more, which makes it easy to buy three or four at once rather than one.

Egg Press makes them, working with a small group of illustrators. Hello!Lucky designs from San Francisco, Fugu Fugu Press from Pasadena, and Phoebe Wahl and Suzy Ultman fill out the range. Each card is printed on a letterpress, which is why the design sits pressed into the paper with a visible impression rather than lying flat on the surface. It is the difference you can feel with a thumb, and it is the reason a letterpress card reads as more than a printed one.

The occasions run across birthdays, weddings, new babies, sympathy, thank-yous, Hanukkah and Christmas, and the holiday designs arrive later in the year. The humour is gentle rather than sentimental: a dachshund with party hats, a goldfish in a paper cup, sardines for a friendship card, a pretzel for a punny wedding. The animal range is the strongest part, from cheetahs to bunnies.

The packaging is worth knowing about. Egg Press offers a plastic-free option that keeps the card and envelope together with a tab rather than a sleeve, which means no adhesive and no plastic to deal with once the card is sent. Both options are available on most designs, so you can choose.

The box sets of six, alongside the notepads, are the practical buy if you send the same card repeatedly through the year, and they work out cheaper per card than buying singles.

If you are buying for a specific occasion and cannot find the right design, it is worth looking through the whole range rather than the first page, because the range covers more ground than the categories suggest.

We keep the range in stock. If there is a particular design or artist you are looking for that you are not able to find on the website, reach out to us and we will be glad to help.
