Collection: Bar and Cocktail

Everything for a home bar, from a box of matches at the bottom of the price range up to Italian pewter and hand-blown glass at the top. The books mostly sit around twenty to twenty-five dollars, and the glassware and pewter run from there.

The cocktail books are the deepest part of the collection. There is one for most cities worth drinking in, including New Orleans, London, Paris, Italy and New York, plus D.C. Cocktails for the local angle. Alongside them sit the subject books: Rosé Cocktails and Bubbly for sparkling, Mezcal and Tequila for agave, Mocktails for anyone not drinking, and Witch's Brew for something with a bit of theatre. Whiskey Cocktails is the slimmest at sixty-four pages and a good first buy. The New York Times Essential Book of Cocktails is the one to get if you only want one, and The Cocktail Bible is an A to Z of two hundred drinks.

For glassware, the hatched glass range is the one that sells most. The double old-fashioned tumbler has a hatched pattern and a pewter base with an engraved horse, and there is a matching highball and nut bowl. Hospitality Glass supplies the mixing glasses in four sizes, including the cut patterns of the Majesty and Meteorite ranges, and the stackable whisky decanter and tumbler set.

The pewter is where the gifts are. Vagabond House makes cheese pick sets shaped as horses, blue crabs and acorns, bottle openers with alligator handles, bottle stoppers with a flying duck on top, and salt and pepper sets in the shape of pears, owls and acorns, each hand finished and detailed down to the leaf veins. Corbell Silver covers the bar tools in silver plate, including the ribbed cocktail shaker and a double measure.

The Arte Italica pewter pieces are the top of the range: a wine bucket, a pedestal dish and a bedside tray, all handcrafted in Italy and made to be kept.

One practical note: the matches are available to continental US customers only, because of shipping rules on flammable goods.

We keep the range in stock. If there is something particular you are looking for that you are not able to find on the website, reach out to us and we will be glad to help.
